Walter "Popcorn" Smith, Jr., was gifted to the parents of Walter B. Smith, Sr. and Ellie
Smith on August 12, 1945, in Marianna, AR.
At an early age, Walter accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and personal savior and was
baptized.
Walter loved his garden and took pride in the fruits of his labor and often shared them with
family and friends. He continued to raise his garden until his health failed him.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Smith, Sr. and Willie Smith; one
brother, Herbert Smith and two sisters, Janie Webb and Pearlie M. Fox.
He leaves to mourn but cherishes his memories, his wife of 30 years, Carrether Smith;
three children, Pervis (Geneva) Jones, Sr., Diane (Jamel) Bridges and Shawnta Dills; four
sisters, Lucille Lee, Barbara Smith and Bertha Smith all of Marianna, AR and Martha
Smith of Chicago, IL; 10 grandchildren, Pervis, Jr., Dedric, David, Desiree, Dajah, Dandre, Fabius, Sheldon, Spencer and Sidney; 12 great grandchildren and a host of nieces,nephews, cousins, in-laws and other relatives and friend
