Nelson Banks, Sr., was born August 26, 1931, in Hughes, AR to the late James Banks and
Mary Elizabeth Carr.
Nelson married Marie Clinkscale on January 29, 1981, who preceded him in death on June 8,
2013. To this union seven children were born.

Nelson confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and became a member of Mt. Perion
Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and as a dedicated member until his
health failed.

Nelson was known for playing his guitar, singing quartet music and praying. He worked at
Douglas and Lomason for over 30 years before retiring. After retirement he continued to work
for Kerr McGee Service Station until their doors were closed for business.

Nelson departed this life on Thursday, May 8, 2025, in Jacksonville, AR. He was preceded in
death by two sons, Jonathan Banks and Michael Williams; three brothers, James Banks, Sr.,
Amos Banks and Johnny B. Banks and one sister, Reola Banks.

Nelson leaves not to mourn, but to cherish his memories two daughters, Mary (Ralph
Patterson, Fiancé) Banks and Traci (Terrance) Banks Dumas both of Jacksonville, AR; three
sons, Elson (Rhonda) Banks of Pine Bluff, AR, Nelson Banks, Jr. of Marianna, AR and Jimmy
(Shannon) Williams of Little Rock, AR; one adopted grandson, Mario Caffey of Jacksonville,
AR; 18 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; four sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law  and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
