Michael James
Esters
Aug 24, 1956 — May 21, 2026
Fayetteville
Michael James Esters, 69 of Kansas City, MO, peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord on May 21, 2026, at Westwood Health and Rehabilitation in Springdale, AR while holding the hand of his brother one last time.
Born on August 24, 1956, in Dumas, AR, Michael was the son of the late Betty Croom-Wilson and Harvey Esters. Michael was always a person of faith at heart and through the grace of God and the faithful ministry of Pastor Jonathan Lowder, Sr. of The Historic St. James Missionary Baptist Church, on May 5, 2026, Michael made the best decision of his life and accepted Christ during a pastoral visit.
Michael was educated in the Little Rock, AR school system and graduated from the historic Little Rock Central High School in 1975. Michael went on to work for AMF (American Machine and Foundry) in Little Rock, AR. He later moved to Kansas City, MO where he dedicated many years to a career as a cook in the food and restaurant industry before retiring in 2012 due to health issues. After his retirement Michael remained in Kansas City until he relocated to Springdale, AR to be closer to family.
Michael had a deep love for football. In and out of season he could be found cheering for his favorite team, the now Las Vegas Raiders. He was a true die heart fan, win or loss. He enjoyed having joyful tussles with friends and family concerning his loyalty to the Raiders and his despise for as he would say "Them Dirty Chiefs". He was known to use the excuse of "Turnovers and Penalties" when the Raiders would lose.
Michael loved his family even more than football. He would often call family and friends to just hear their voice and let them know they could call him no matter the time, day or night. Even after his health declined and in his closing chapter, he always got up enough strength to let his family know he was happy to see their faces.
Michael was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Betty Croom-Wilson; grandparents, Matt and Ossie Croom, Sr.; four uncles including his most cherished uncle, Julius Croom, Sr.; three aunts and two nieces, Summer Love and Jasmine Little.
Precious memories will forever be cherished by his brother Kim (Ginia) Love of Fayetteville, AR; two nephews, Jer'Rayle (Gabrielle) Love and Kendrick Lanes; two nieces, Jacqueline (DeAndre) Jackson-Atkinson and Raven (Paul) Crowder; 10 great-nieces and nephews; one aunt, Edith (James) Vassol; one uncle, Richard (Rosie) Croom; three "bonus sisters", Ann (Lewis) Watson, Sea (Kevin) Dunnell and Tonya (Michael) Hood and a host of cousins, family and friends.
Michael's laugh, love and life will be remembered and remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
"Silver and Black forever…And may he watch over us from Heaven's highest height".
