Obituary

Gary Wayne Moore was born March 13, 1961, to the late Melvin and Leola Moore, Sr. in Marianna, AR. He departed this life on May 26, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Little Rock, AR.

Gary grew up on a farm where his dad and mom raised cotton, soybeans, wheat and a garden. He attended Lee Senior High School through his Junior year. After leaving school he worked closely with his dad on the farm. After his dad became ill and could no longer farm, he helped him with tree trimming, selling firewood and construction work.

Gary acknowledged faith in Christ at an early age and became a member of the Holly Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Skidmore, AR. In 2009, he suffered a stroke and became disabled. He moved to Little Rock where he gained a broader support system and was able to be rehabilitated from his stroke. He took an interest in attending church again with his older brother and sister and on May 27, 2012, he was baptized into the body of Christ by Brother L.C. Mitchell in Marianna, AR. He later placed membership at the McAlmont Church of Christ and attended faithfully until COVID and later his health began to decline.

Gary was quiet spoken and mild mannered, but truly knew how to be a friend. The people in his life that regarded him as "Friend" truly respected him and looked up to him as a true friend. He had a close relationship with his brothers and preferred their company over anyone else's.

Gary enjoyed spending time with family, watching tv, completing word games and keeping a neat apartment. He was praised by his management that he always had one of the neatest apartments in the complex.

Gary is preceded in death by his father, Melvin Moore, Sr.; mother, Leola Moore; two brothers, Maxie Wayne Moore and Glen Casyus Moore and a close companion and friend, Floyda Lee Redden.

Gary leaves to mourn his passing five brothers, Melvin (Shirley) Moore, Jr. of Little Rock, AR; Stanley (Sandra) Moore of Marianna, AR, Larry (Terry) Moore of Emporia, VA, Harold (Gloria) Moore and Oliver (Cara) Moore both of Memphis, TN; five sisters, Gloria Moore of Little Rock, AR, Evalena Moore of Chicago, IL, Sharon (Dale) Hamilton of Ridgeland, MS, Mary Maxine Brown and Kathey Moore both of Little Rock, AR; devoted stepchildren, Tarhonda Redden, Tenisha Redden, Sandra Redden, Andre Redden, Gregory Redden, Fredrick Redden and Derrick Redden; one aunt, Mary Lorene Burnett of Chicago, IL; one great aunt and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
