Elbert "Elmo" Burgess

Elbert Burgess was born June 5, 1961, to the late Elmo Burgess and L.C. Cody Burgess in Hughes, AR.

Elbert was preceded in death by his mother, father and brothers, Frankie Lee Burgess and Ricky Lee Burgess.

Elbert attended school at Hughes High School. He was a life-long resident of Hughes and surrounding community areas. He was a skilled farm technician before his health failed. Afterwards he and his wife relocated to Marianna, AR and lastly to Rondo, AR.

Elbert was married to Helen Jean Blocker Burgess for 22 years. He was the father of five children.

Elbert leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Helen Burgess; three sons, Michael Payton of Paducah, KY, Prethius (Jasmine) Blocker of Indianapolis, IN and Edward Troup of Rondo, AR; two daughters, Jennifer Blocker of Jonesboro, AR and Jasmine Troup of Marion, AR; eight brothers, Johnny (Katie) Burgess, Alvin (Linda) Burgess, Curtis (Ann) Burgess, Steven (Jeanette) Smith, Timmy (Sandra) Chism, Napoleon Chism, Raymond Williams and David Smith; 10 sisters, Viola Burgess, Willie Mae Cody, Doris Smith, Jessie (Carl) Banks, Barbara Florence, Anna White, Shavonda (Jerry) Smith, Lyvonne Chism, Lashanda Williams and Ardella Johnson; 17 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two aunts, one uncle and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
