Obituary

Edna Carol Wheaton, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, was born on July 5, 1950, in Marianna, Arkansas, to the late Lillie Williams and the late JC Campbell. Edna's early years were filled with faith and music as a member of Paradise Baptist Church, where she sang in the youth choir and played the piano.

In 1967, Edna moved to Oakland, California, where she met and married her husband, Dwight Wheaton. Edna's love for singing, playing the piano, and dancing was matched only by her joy in spending time with family and friends. In 1972, she relocated to Seattle, Washington, where she became the welcoming gateway for loved ones visiting or relocating to Seattle. Her home, affectionately known as the "Wheaton Inn," was always open to those she cherished. Edna remained active in her faith, attending Graham St Church of Christ.

Edna embarked on a career in banking, holding positions at Rainier Bank and the Seattle Credit Union. She later served as a Clerk for the City of Seattle, where she retired in 2015. On September 6, 2025, Edna departed this life at AngelWings Assisted Living Facility in Seattle, Washington.

Edna leaves to mourn her passing four children: Edwin Campbell, Sr. (Shelia) of Marianna, AR; Stephanie Campbell Mills of Seattle, WA; Dwight Wheaton II (Rinku) of Seattle, WA; and Christopher Wheaton (Rachel) of Seattle, WA. She is also survived by five brothers: Charles Alvin Campbell of Florida, Joseph Campbell of Arkansas, Johnny Campbell of Chicago, IL, Clem William Campbell of Arkansas, David Wilson of Marianna, AR, and Michael Campbell of Fort Worth, TX.

Edna's legacy continues through her eight grandchildren: Edwin Jr, Keyanna, Jai, Xiomara, Kumar, Meera, Thi-son, and Syris; seven great-grandchildren: Tyler, Rha'Nyia, Kamyia, Avayia, Audrianna, Catalina, and Greyson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Melvin Campbell Sr. and Ronald Wilson.

Edna will be remembered for her warmth, her music, her faith, and the love she shared with all who knew her.
