Obituary

Delilia Loretta Rhone, better known as "Mama Lila", was born to the late James (Jim) and Elatrice Smith Rhone on May 12, 1938. After the death of her mother, her grandparents, William and Georgia Smith, raised her as their own. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at the Springfield M.B. Church. After graduating from Carver High School in Moro, Arkansas, she briefly attended AM&N College (UAPB) in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She lived in Chicago, Illinois and Wichita, Kansas, but ultimately decided to return to Moro, Arkansas with her four children. She later moved to Marianna, Arkansas (Brown's Addition).

Delilia retired from the Phillips Van Heusen Factory in Brinkley, Arkansas after years of dedicated work. She also had experience as a cook for multiple establishments during her lifetime.

At Springfield M.B. Church, "Mama Lila" was an active member of her church. Here, she happily served as chairperson of the Pastor's Support Ministry and the kitchen committee for numerous years. She was also very instrumental in the renovation of Springfield's Fellowship Hall.

Delilia was a caring, strong willed and self-reliant woman with a great sense of humor who never met a stranger. She took great pride in working for her church, organizing family gatherings, and most of all her cooking. She was eager to help and just as eager to extend an invitation.

When her health allowed it, she was an avid gardener. Spending hours at a time caring for her flowers and watching the results of her green thumb.

Mama Lila transitioned to her heavenly home on Saturday, July 11, 2026, peacefully at her home.

Delilia was proceeded in death by her parents; James (Jim) and Elatrice Smith Rhone; her grandparents, William and Georgia Smith; two sisters, Roxie Hobbs and Viola Horner; three brothers, J.W. Rhone, Ed Rhone and Robert Rhone; one son, Kenneth Rhone; one daughter, Shelia Rhone and one son-in-law, Nathaniel Johnson, Sr.
