Charles Anthony
Wilson
Sep 9, 1962 — Nov 24, 2024
Forrest City
Charles A. Wilson was born September 9, 1962, to the late Erma J. Hampton Jones and Manuel Wilson, Sr. in Helena, AR.
Charles accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. Williams at Old Jerusalem M.B. Church in Wabash, AR.
He graduated from C.V. White High School in 1980 in Lakeview, AR where he lived until 1982 and then moved to West Helena, AR with his family. Charles helped his stepdad the late Joe B. Jones do mechanic work, which he grew to love, becoming the best shade tree mechanic, you know. Years later Charles moved to Davenport, Iowa where he took "his shade tree" with him gaining so much love and respect for his skills. In the mid 2000's Charles brought his shade tree back to Arkansas (where so many families and friends awaited "Block's Shade Tree") continuing his mechanical skills until he departed this life.
Let's not forget Charles was like his mother the late Erma "G-Mama" Jones didn't believe in leaving home, going in the public in wrinkled clothes. He would always use his flour and water to iron his jeans and shirts, and the jeans could stand alone.
"Block" held a special place in everyone's heart, especially his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Wilson, Sr., Erma J. Hampton Jones; stepfather, Joe B. Jones; four brothers, Manuel Jr., John, Troy and Dennis and two sisters, Louise and Sandra.
His memory will forever be cherished by three sons, Frederick Bateman, Charles Wilson, Jr. and Khalil Grey all of Davenport, Iowa; 10 sisters, Joyce Phillips of Forrest City, AR, Trina Wilson of Jonesboro, AR, Carolyn Howard of Little Rock, AR, Undraye Wilson of West Helena, AR, Doris Wilson of Elaine, AR, Betty Jean, Evelyn, Murtise all of Illinois, Murchell Wilson of Elaine, AR and Chanda Wilson of West Helena, AR; eight brothers, Erwin K. Hampton of Forrest City, AR, Melvin Wilson of Kansas City, KS, Phillip Wilson of Alanta, GA, Michael Wilson of Illinois, Trent Wilson and Reginald Wilson both of Minnesota, Carlos Wilson of Little Rock, AR and Brandon Wilson of St. Cloud, MN and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and love ones.
