Obituary

Mack Anderson and Ruby Smith were overjoyed to welcome their baby girl, Carla Vaniece Brooks, into the world on July 5, 1960, in the charming town of Marianna, AR. Carla was the third child born out of four children. From a young age, Carla's family instilled in her a strong sense of faith and community. At an early age, she was baptized at the Church of Living God in Dansby, AR, marking an important spiritual milestone in her life. This early connection to her faith would become a central part of her upbringing and a guiding force in the years to come.

Carla attended Lee Senior High School, graduating in 1978. She then pursued a degree in accounting at the University of Central Arkansas, where she exemplified dedication and a passion for learning. Eager to follow her dreams in accounting and finance, Carla moved to Dallas, TX. There, she met Bobby Brooks, Sr., whom she later married at the Church of the Living God. The couple eventually joined Jubilee Christian Fellowship, where Carla played a vital role in managing church finances.

Professionally, Carla dedicated over a decade to Southwest Securities before advancing to Bank of America, where she served as Vice President. Even while excelling in her career, she also chose to work part-time at The Potter's House, the church she and her children attended. A devoted professional and loving mother, Carla worked tirelessly to provide for her family, leaving a lasting impact both in her career and community.

Whenever she was back home, Carla had a special love for fishing, a peaceful way to reconnect with her family. It was more than just a hobby for her; it was a chance to enjoy the simplicity of the outdoors and reflect. But even when she wasn't casting her line, she was always staying active in one way or another. Whether it was volunteering to lend a hand to the community or finding ways to make a positive impact through her job, she was constantly seeking opportunities to help others. Her passion for staying engaged, giving back, and keeping herself active was something that defined her, showing her deep sense of responsibility and connection to those around her.

God's angels welcomed Carla Brooks into eternal peace on Saturday, March 15, 2025. As she took her last breath, she was surrounded by love, and we find comfort in knowing she was now in the arms of the Lord. Carla was preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Lee Smith and her beloved grandson, Elijah Williams.

She is survived by her son, Bobby (Tameka) Brooks, Jr. and her daughter, Ashley (Brandon) Williams. She also leaves behind her father, Mack Anderson Smith, Sr. and her siblings, Dorothy (Everett) Farmer, Delois Childress and Mack Anderson Smith, Jr. Carla's legacy will continue through her grandchildren, JaCorey Brooks, Adrian Brooks, Trinity Brooks, Imani Williams, Josiah Williams, Noah Brooks and Tobias Williams as well as her nieces, nephews and many cousins. Carla's love will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

As we say goodbye, we remember Carla's beautiful heart, her unwavering strength and the love she shared with her family and friends. We find solace in the hope that one day we will be reunited with her in God's perfect love. Though we mourn her passing, we celebrate the incredible life she lived.
